June 17, 2011

No shame…

… for wanting, needing, and enjoying dessert every single day…

Deep Chocolate Vitamuffin, vanilla Greek yogurt, caramel pudding

. – . – . – .

No shame…

… for hiding goodies in the depths of the vegetable drawer so no one else can steal them…

Too bad the secret’s out now…

. – . – . – .

No shame…

… for eating salsa straight out of the jar with a spoon…

Sometimes I get hit by mad cravings for either salsa or pasta sauce. ‘Tis weird…

. – . – . – .

No shame…

… for being skeeved out by the idea of egg whites in a carton and using the real thing instead…

The yolks don’t go to waste, though. I use them in natural homemade face/hair masks.

. – . – . – .

No shame…

… for turning to the dark side…

Vanilla tofu protein pudding… with cocoa. But I think I prefer vanilla…

. – . – . – .

No shame…

… for cheating on running with a growing love for strength training…

The  New Rules of Lifting for Women. I’m loving this book, and I’ve started their workout plan.

. – . – . – .

No shame…

… for sleeping with a childhood friend…

Trips has been with me  for 26 years, and loves me even after seeing me first thing in the morning.
He’s a keeper.

. – . – . – .

No shame…

… for sometimes preferring to spent a quiet Friday night at home…

Don’t lie – you know you wanna be cool like me 😉

. – . – . – .

No shame…

… for being me… just the way I am…

… flaws, quirks, oddities, and all 😀

. – . – . – .

Your turn! No shame for… ____________

Chocolate or vanilla?

Running or strength training?

    Haha, love that photo 🙂

No shame for lipsyncing to my iPod music while running.

    Chocolate chocolate CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Running.

  2. June 17, 2011 5:46 pm

The egg whites in a carton definitely freak me out. That’s why I only eat the whole egg! The yolk has the flavor and the nutrition 😉

  3. June 17, 2011 5:49 pm

Love this post!! No shame in wanting to stay at homeon a Friday night either. And… not shame for spooning with my puppy for an unexpected nap.

  4. June 17, 2011 5:51 pm

um I thought I’d never find another person who also loved eating salsa right from the jar!! I could seriously down a whole jar of sauce or salsa. Something about it mmmmmm
I like vanilla better I think or chocolate just as a bar. I dislike chocolate flavoured things like chocolate milk, pudding or hot chocolate.
I like to switch up my workouts to get a good balance. Yoga tonight since I’m feeling a bit off.
no shame for smelling books, not driving even though I’m nearly 21, knitting and going to bed before 10 🙂

  5. June 17, 2011 6:02 pm

Haha that photo of you is awesome!! And I am with you on like ALL of these!! Especially hiding goodies…DEFINITELY guilty of that! 😉

No shame in dessert after EVERY meal haha! Or in stashing bunches of bananas away in brown bags so they will ripen quicker! 😛

    CHOCOLATE all the way!! 😀

I’ve ordered that book! Looks AWESOME!! Much as I am LOVING strength training at the mo, running will always have my heart ❤

  6. June 17, 2011 6:02 pm

Lately I’ve been all for strength training too, and I love that I already feel stronger!
No Shame in having yet another snack: blended tofu with cocoa. It’s a tough call between chocolate or vanilla but I think it really depends on my mood 🙂

  7. June 17, 2011 6:04 pm

    Pickles and Peanut butter!!!
Oh, and you know how some people like OIAJ?
No shame for using my jars for SVIAJ (steamed veggies in a jar) either.

  8. June 17, 2011 6:08 pm

No shame for…having absolutely nothing productive to do once schools done. Except of course reading fabulous blogs.
I haven’t tried strength training, but once I’m healthy I will for sure
    & VANILLA all the way!

  9. June 17, 2011 6:21 pm

Strength Training, and hmm im eating strawberry right now soo idn 🙂 I LOVE salsa! just posted about that too !! I eat it legit out of the jar!! SO AMAZING. My sis is in New Zealand right now, and is planning to walk the trail to Mordor NO LIE!!!!! ( New Zealand is where they filmed alot of the Lord of the Rings I’ve been told)
Just thought of that when I saw those amazing movie pics. 🙂

    • June 18, 2011 8:11 am

I’ve always wanted to visit New Zealand 😀 I’ve been told that it’s absolutely beautiful there, and I wouldn’t mind visiting some of the LOTR places!

  10. June 17, 2011 6:27 pm

I’m gonna have to say that I have no shame for having a seemingly never-ending waffle obsession at the moment. it’ll pass. come winter….
glad i’m not the only one who “hides” things in the fridge 😛

And I thought I was the only one who ate pasta sauce and salsa straight from the jar like that!
I say no shame in putting a workout DVD on pause to go grab a snack.
and no shame in licking the spoon, the bowl, and the spatula when you bake, wouldn’t want to waste any of the delicious batter 🙂

I love this!!!! I am so happy that other people crave salsa too because I could literally eat that stuff by the spoonful like you mentioned above. Also, I totally hide baked goods in various places all over my fridge so my dad can’t eat them before I do LOL! You gotta be sneaky in my house if you want the good stuff.

    Once again LOVE THIS POST!

  13. June 17, 2011 6:49 pm

Beautiful! You are such an amazing lady. Right on for being you. You’re awesome. Ain’t no shame in eating french fries with dinner tonight and sippin’ on an ice cold beer right now 🙂 Chocolate or vanilla? Definitely chocolate. And currently I’m feeling strength training more than running.
P.S. I definitely feel you on having dessert EVERY day. It’s essential.

  14. June 17, 2011 7:04 pm

I seriously crave your yogurt vitamuffin dessert right now. I like chocolate more but vanilla for tofu pudding. tofu + chocolate = not so good to me.

  15. June 17, 2011 7:05 pm

O0o I think I choose vanilla and strength training for sure. I love it.
No shame for being a bowl licker? X-)

  16. June 17, 2011 7:16 pm

Wait, wait…egg yolks for hair and face stuff?! That’s awesome! Can you post a little recipe or something for it? I always feel bad for throwing out the yolk..

    • June 18, 2011 8:25 am

Erm. They’re not really recipes, per say, For the face mask you just put the yolk right on to your face and leave it for 15 minutes then rinse. And for hair, mix it with some water and baby oil, then massage it in to your hair and leave it for 20 mins.

Vanilla! Right now at least. And definitely running, but I wish I could get into strength training more. I could use it.
Love the picture of you, you’re so pretty 🙂
    No shame in pb fingers!

  18. June 17, 2011 7:19 pm

I love this post! NO SHAME BABY! Chocolate and running…but I want to learn how to properly strength train…and eating spoonfuls of salsa or pb is never a bad thing 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend.

  19. June 17, 2011 7:21 pm

No shame in being the only one who can finish all their dessert when eating out with friends. Come on…it’s the best part of the meal for sure! 🙂
Chocolate always! And I prefer strength training to running, but I usually try to keep it pretty even and do both. I really want to read new rules of lifting for women, but I still haven’t made it to the bookstore. Hopefully soon though!

  20. June 17, 2011 7:32 pm

Best idea to use up the yolks ever!!!! you’re so flipping awesome =)

def no shame in needing dessert every day!! i always at least have asome chocolate chips now, i can’t control myself haha

  22. June 17, 2011 8:08 pm

Haha I love you for owning all of the Lord of the Rings movies… and in the extended versions, no less! I love those movies!

No shame for singing Disney songs in the car on the way to work this morning! Hey, I have to amuse myself somehow during the 30 minute drive! 😉

  23. June 17, 2011 8:19 pm

Chocolate over vanilla definitely! I prefer my cardio over strength training although I think strength training makes my body feel so much better…No Shame for accepting the past and moving on!

  24. June 17, 2011 8:34 pm

Why not vanilla and chocolate? I want to have the best of both worlds.

My knees can’t handle running so definitely strength training.

No shame for being weird in general 🙂 .

  25. June 17, 2011 8:37 pm

    chocolate all the way!!!!!!!!

  26. June 17, 2011 9:06 pm

You’re seriously the coolest. THE coolest. I love your no shames. Totally nothing wrong with spending a friday night in with classics movies and gaming time. I’m spending my friday night blog reading and I’m lovin’ in. NO shame in the least. And I eat salsa straight from the jar ALL the time. At least once a day. Sometimes straight up with a spoon but usually dunking tortilla chips, rice crackers or mini rice cakes right into the jar. Best snack ever.

Chocolate or vanilla? I’d say chocolate most of the time. Mmm rich cocoa powder.

Running or strength training? Both for their own reasons – Running because it’s free thinking and music grooving time. Strength training for its body changing abilities and how darn strong and accomplished it makes you feel!

    Running or strength training?

  27. June 17, 2011 9:15 pm

Tehehe I live down the road from Weta studios where they film Lord of the Rings, just thought you’d like to know 😛

No shame in having Spongebob Squarepants bed sheets. No siree! 😛

Chocolate AND vanilla…I can’t choose one. It depends on my mood really 😉

STRENGTH TRAINING!! Running destroyed my hips and strength training has changed my body shape, for sure!

    xxx

Your dessert looks delicious and I’ve definitely hid goodies in the vegetable drawer before. Nobody thinks to check there when a sugar craving hits. Haha!
    Have a great weekend! 😀

  30. June 17, 2011 9:55 pm

No shame in staying in your pajamas all day, even when it’s a gloriously sunny day out…. sometimes I just want to shelter myself!
    Vanilla foo shoooo
And depends on my mood… but strength training more often than running!

  31. June 17, 2011 9:59 pm

Great post! I can never decide between chocolate and vanilla! I love them both.

  32. June 17, 2011 10:38 pm

No shame for watching re-runs of Seinfeld instead of going out on a Friday night!

    Vanilla for sure.

And sorry, but running over strength training any day!

  33. June 17, 2011 11:46 pm

I read that book and loooved it! I’ve been meaning to really start the program (I tried it out and it’s TOUGH) but i’ve yet to commit, as I’m in gym limbo at the moment.
Vitamuffins and yogurt were my absolute favorite desserts when i was on bed rest. I need to bring them back!

No shame . . . for pretending to have your own cooking show whilst in the kitchen and explaining everything to an imaginary audience. 😛 Have been dong that since I was a little girl!
Also, I wanted to mention a couple of posts ago (but I forgot, sorry!) that it’s so nice to know a fellow foodie who’s also a a) closet video gamer (Fable & Soul Caliber = <3) and b) enjoys the fantasy genre. I've been Lord of the Rings obsessed since . . . forever! 😀

  35. June 18, 2011 4:22 am

I seriously love you, and this post, and the fact that NO ONE should be ashamed of who they are!!

I also hide stuff in the veggie drawer, and actually ended up taking it over so now its my drawer in the fridge!! =P

  36. June 18, 2011 5:03 am

Haha love this girly!! You should have no shame just being you because you are amazing! 🙂
I totally totally agree with having no shame whatsoever for wanting and needing dessert every single day. I have no shame in having multiple cookies/muffins everyday without fail!
I’d probably say vanilla most of the time but I would REALLY love to get my hands on those chocolate Vitamuffins you have! *sigh* one day, one day..

  37. June 18, 2011 6:34 am

    LOVE THIS!
I also eat salsa straight from the jar, eating dessert everyday, sleeping with my blanket that I’ve had for 22 years :), and staying home on Friday nights to play video games woo!
I have no shame for eating cool whip right out of the tub 🙂
I honestly haven’t decided if I like chocolate or vanilla better. I think I prefer vanilla protein powders, milk, smoothies etc but I love a piece of dark chocolate. and in my cakes etc 🙂
and honestly I’ve been LOVING strength training I feel so powerful!

  40. June 18, 2011 7:36 am

No shame for wanting a rest day from working out every now and then!! 🙂
    Chocolate, especially the dark.
Running!!! I get so bored strength training

  41. June 18, 2011 8:05 am

This post is fantastic. I, too, am a closet salsa eater! No shame there at all 🙂

For me? No shame in blasting gangsta rap from my car on a busy road. Yes, I’m a little blonde chick, and yes, I’m driving a bright blue mini cooper, and yes! I’m wearing hipster sunglasses. But I’m not ashamed!

  42. June 18, 2011 8:45 am

What a lovely post! And you should have no shame, you are so amazing and so so beautiful!!
I want to get into strength training, but im more of a runner. I want to get in at least one Body Pump class a week now, but running is something I can do almost everyday. Makes me feel free!

And, for me, it is chocolatechocolatechocolate. it is The love of my life!!
    Have a great weekend :*

  43. June 18, 2011 9:02 am

I’ve been thinking about doing a Lord of the Rings marathon all week now… ever since my pastor used a clip from The Return of the King in a very profound analogy at church last Sunday. It was a great sermon, but all I could think about for the rest of the time was how I wanted to watch the Lord of the Rings! Haha. And I still sleep with my stuffed yellow dog every night, too.

Chocolate foreverrr… and usually I’d say I like strength training better… but this week, I’ve been all about the cardio! Been a real struggle to force myself to strength train (usually its the opposite!) It just seems to take so much mental energy… when cardio you can just plug in and GO!

  44. June 18, 2011 9:02 am

For some reason, whenever you eat Greek yogurt I always want to have some. You make it look soooooo good!

  45. June 18, 2011 9:43 am

Ohhh dang girl I thought I was the only one who needed dessert each night. Good to know I’m not in it alone 😛 Definitely vanilla and running!

  46. June 18, 2011 10:07 am

yay for cheating on running! I’ve been in running injury rehab for the past 1.5 months and I am adoring me some weights/short sprints intervals!

No shame for truly wanting to add tofu to every part of my day: tofu green monster in the AM, tofu brown rice casserole in the daytime, tofu scramble in the PM, tofu chocolate pudding in the nighttime. For reeeaaals! Too much soy? le sigh…

  48. June 18, 2011 4:22 pm

that protein pudding sounds so good!! I am definitely trying that! lately I’ve been more of vanilla girl but really it just depends on what mood i’m in…because I’ve definitely been know to dive into a bag of chocolate chips as well. 😉

love this post, especially the last picture. i always eat out of jars… every single jar in our household (almond butter, hummus, jam, etc.) has probably been eaten out of by me. no shame. =)
