Wooooooowie. Everyone sure doesΒ love their fruit.

It was great to see so many people jumping in to defend nature’s sweet, sweet gift to us. I’m glad we can all agree that cutting fruit out of one’s diet is absolute garbage. And I’m also glad to hear that I’m not the only one who gets even hungrier after eating an apple – I guess there really isΒ something fishy about those innocent looking red [or green] buggers… It’s sad, though,Β because I love me some apples but I haven’t been eating too many of them lately just because of what they do to my hunger. My appetite is crazy enough enough as it is, and I don’t exactly want to make it any crazier…

And speaking of crazy, it’s everyone’s favorite day of the week again!Β I have no idea where the last 7 days went, but let’s not waste any more time and get the party started!

Breakfast prep…

My day always starts out with the usual suspects.
Tea while oats are cooking. Coffee while oats are… being eaten.

Nothing new to see here, just the regular eggy bananafied oats topped with roasted almond butter and chocolate/caramel pudding. This is by far my favorite way to start the day, and I don’t think that’ll change anytime soon. Sweet breakfast, sweet day. Can’t argue with that kind of logic πŸ˜€

Pre-workout Snack…

Banana with almond butter and dark chocolate … Cottage cheese with cinnamon

Wednesdays are weight training days, but this is by far my favorite pre-workout snack no matter what I’m going to be doing. It’s easy on my stomach and gives me a tonne of energy… which I really needed because today’s routine left me lying on the floor as a shaky mess. I’m halfway through Stage 1 of the New Rules of Lifting for Women workout plan, and… ouch. Just ouch.

Tragedy Strikes…

The cottage cheese in this morning’s snack (^^) snuffed out my cinnamon shaker…

Thankfully, I’ve got a whoooooole lot to spare…

In case it’s not blatantly obvious, I kind of have an obsession with cinnamon, so I make 400% sure that I never run out. There’s one shaker near the stove, one shaker in the cupboards on the other side of the kitchen, and one shaker in the office by the computer where I eat a lot of my meals.

What?Β Don’t give me that look…

It beats having to get up to go to the kitchen every time I want another shake, which is… quite often.

Post-workout/Lunch…

Breakfast for lunch still owns my heart…

And because lunch apparently wasn’t filling enough and I needed a little bit extra, I wolfed down a bowl of blueberries that someone just happened to leave sitting on the counter, unattended…

Afternoon Noshings…

It was a laaazy afternoon spent reading and nibbling…

I finished reading Room, which was absolutely amazing, and now I’m starting on The Kite Runner, which is also absolutely amazing thus far. I’m having a tonne of luck with books this summer… I can’t even remember the last one I read that I didnt enjoy.

Oh, and does grape kombucha remind anyone else of children’s cough syrup?

No? Maybe it’s just me, then… but I kind of like it 😯

And I have a confession…

I have a serious addiction to trail mix, but the problem is that I pick out all the good stuff [read: chocolate chips and dried fruit] first, so I’m left with the okay-but-not-as-good stuff when I reach the bottom of the bag. But that’s okay, because I manage to satisfy my chocolate craving by other means…

Chocolate chip cookie dough… chocolate pudding mixed with extra cocoa.

Hit. the. spot… But I was absolutely starving by the time dinner rolld around, and had an impossibly difficult time trying to decide what to make…

Dinner…

In the end, it was an avocado craving that decided for me… I needed some guac [and salsa] in my life, so I just went with the first Mexican themed meal that came to mind…

Pumpkin chili Mexican Scramble

Dee-lish. But I already feel hunger creeping back in… so it’s gonna be snack time soon.

What do you do when you finish your meal and you’re still not fully satisfied?

Do you have a hard time deciding what to eat when you get too hungry? Or do you just grab the first thing that you see?

    I usually have such a hard time deciding (reminds me of your question in a previous post), that the slight hunger goes away. So I never pick anything. Sigh.

    I hate getting to the end of the cinnamon shaker!

    I’m obsessed with cinnamon too! Always in my yoghurt, always in my cereal πŸ™‚ If I’m not completely satisfied after a meal I wait about 20 minutes then have a little finish-off, sometimes it can be a piece of toasted bread with butter or a bit more of whatever it was I was having before.

    I’m obsessed with cinnamon too, it goes on pretty much everything and I can never get tired of it! If I finish a meal and I’m not fully satisfied I usually go for dessert! Which is usually some sort of fruit hehe πŸ™‚

    I read the Kite Runner a few years ago and absolutely loved it! That’s awesome your getting so many great reads in πŸ™‚

    We had pretty much the same breakfast (PUDDING OATS!!) and the same workout too (NROLWF yaaay) so basically we’re twinsies and we rock! πŸ˜€

    If I’m not fully satisfied after a meal I will have a small bowl of cereal — right now I have a huge box of Choc Cheerios from Costco and that works well as “dessert” or just as extra calories after a meal if I’m still hungry.

    Yum yum yum is all I have to say about your eats.
    I try to make my meals in a way that I think will fulfill me- but when you are a ravenous beast 99.999999% of the time( like me) it can be tricky- so I eat more! A nut butter spoon or something generally nourishing.
    I made DELISH raisin bran muffins today following a kinda amazing recipe from a kinda awesome blogger- oh wait , it was YOU

    I don’t have a cinnamon shaker 😳 (don’t hate me yet!) because I do something BETTER! We store cinnamon in a little jar, and I pour it into the lid so I can sump a nice pile onto my food :D. Much less effort that way– no shaking a bazillion times.

    When I finish a meal and I’m not fully satisfied, I go back for more (duh). Sometimes I eat more of the same food or go for a different thing.

    When I’m really hungry, I usually have been daydreaming/planning exactly what I want to eat so that the second I get to house (becuase I’m usually caught super hungry outside the house by mistake– otherwise I wouldn’t be so hungry if I were at home!) I start snacking while I make whatever quick meal will satisfy my cravings :D.

    I’m obsessed with cinnamon too! We have to buy it in bulk because Kyle is a cinnamon addict as well :). All of your eats look great!
    When I’m not completely satisfied…. I go for the trail mix. πŸ™‚ You can’t go wrong with dried fruit, chocolate, and some random other things.
    Yes I definitely have a hard time deciding on what to eat when I’m hungry, then I’ll get angry and just not want to eat but that hasn’t happened for awhile now. I’m trying to prevent hunger by eating!

    I’m the kind of person that already has an idea of what I want for dinner at the start of the day. if i cant decide I just flip through my little recipe book I’ve made with all my fave meals written into it.
    Usually if Im still hungry after dinner I will always go for an apple, i know you said they make you hungrier, but they fill me right up πŸ˜€

    i bought pudding because of you thak you very much!! haha. and i neeeed a blender..your smoothies always look amazing.
    I could also eat mexican for like every meal haha .. i just love avocado.
    If i’m hungry after a meal I try to wait a bit, and if i’ms till hungry I just eat some more!

    It’s so totally normal to have multiple jars of cinnamon!! I think I have four… at least. (Not that I’m saying it’s normal because I do it, since I’m obviously NOT normal, but I do tend to do normal things sometimes. ;))

    I cannot ever run out of cinnamon! I love it soo soo much. I have 3 bottles of it, plus a bag (just in case!). Usually when I am hungry I know what I want ahah, I am really trying to listen to my body and if it is still hungry after a meal, the answer is more delish food πŸ™‚

    I too have a major cinnamon addiction – I will never, ever have less than 2 ‘shakers’ in the house in fear of running out. I don’t think I’d be able to carry on with my day without cinnamon on/in my breakfast!

    I never had the grape kombucha, and I have tried them all , at least I thought , haha!

    I am a trail mix picker too, is there a club for that? I always pick out the chocolate and peanuts in mine, oh and the almonds too! Mike and I get a monster mix one, we love!

    LOVE the reading, I did that too this afternoon, as you know, might download another book tonight, if not, then tomorrow!

    By the way, are you a cinnamon snob like me? I have never fond anyone else to agree but all cinnamon is not created equal. right? Right? It looks like you got a good stash.

    The trail mix throw backs are always good for oatmeal and rice toppage!

    Haha! Love your cinnamon collection! I have a GIANT-sized container that I bought from Sam’s Club that I practically tote everywhere in the house…hmm, maybe I should fashion some sort of spice shaker belt? Like a tool belt you know, but for spices I can’t live without…cinnamon, bbq seasoning, smoked paprika…oh yes, this could work! πŸ˜‰

    I was reading The Kite Runner last summer but didn’t get to finish it. I need to pick it back up!

    I tend to grab for some fruit when I finish my meal and I’m still not satisfied, too! And it seems like every day I eat more and more- I keep getting hungrier and hungrier! I totally feel you on the crazy appetite front.

    I am the MOST indecisive person when it comes to choosing what to eat. I was trying to decide between hummus and jam on my english muffin for lunch today- but then I kept thinking “But wait, I’m having sweet yogurt! I can’t have just one half of my muffin salty! Half and half sweet and salty or all the way sweet!”. And even once I figured THAT out I still spent another few minutes mulling over which to choose. OY!

    I’m running dangerously low on cinnamon. Like DANGEROUSLY low. Can you spare a shaker? Haha!

      You know how I feel about the sweet and savory combo πŸ˜‰ I’d totally do it. Hummus on the EM and then dunk it into the yogurt πŸ˜† Why not? You might be surprised at how good it is. And I SUPPOSE I could spare a shaker… although I would probably have to restock for convenience sake…

    yummy meals!!! what brand of chocolate/caramel pudding do you buy?? your oats look so heavenly…i would LOVE to eat that every morning!!

    i hate when i finish my meal and want something else but can’t decide. my therapist believes in eating what you’re “humming” for, which means really tuning into your body and noticing what you’re craving at a cellular level (salts, iron, sweets, etc.) so i’m trying to do that vs. reaching for the first thing in sight just because its there

    Usually I tend to eat the same things day by day, give or take a few options so usually I know what to grab when I am hungry. I notice when I eat more carbs I don’t feel as satisfied and I always seem to want more.

    I’m with you on the cinnamon love! And I also do that same thin with my trail mix. Usually I just buy more good stuff to add to it!
    If I’m still hungry after I eat, I wait 15 minutes, just to make sure my mind and my tummy are on the same page. Then if I’m still hungry I go get whatever I feel like. Usually a piece of dark chocolate or a nut-butter date or some fruit!
    And yes I suffer from fridge comma moments where I stare blankly into the fridge absolutely ravenous with no idea what I want to eat! I hate it! but at least I put some thought into my eats πŸ™‚

    WOnderful day of eats! I am obsessed with cinnamon too! I put it on everything! And I go through it SO quick! I always gotta replenish my stock! That lunch looks amazing and you’re making me jealous of that grape kombucha! I gotta find that stuff somewhere!

    banana with peanut butter = tried and true preworkout snack. Actually it’s really the best anytime snack for me. It’s usually the first thing I reach for in the morning, especially when I’m ravenous. I just can’t take the time to prepare a fun breakfast when I can have a delicious banana with peanut butter (and yogurt cereal mess, of course!) in 30 seconds!

    Your meals all look so delicious. I’m the same way about cinnamon. I have two bottles in the kitchen, one in the cellar and another one mixed in with my cooking ingredients. Cinnamon is essential πŸ˜€

    If I’m still hungry, I usually pour a glass of milk and that fills me up or some fruit or nuts.

    If I’m still hungry at breakfast, I’ll have some berries. At lunch, I’ll have some fudgies (they’re from Moves N Munchies, like mini fudgesicles!!) and at dinner I’ll have bread dipped in olive oil with garlic pepper.

    I would usually take a bite of bread, then make a sandwich out of the rest of it. πŸ™‚

    I go for a square of Baker’s chocolate, always; The richness never fails to satisfy. But when I’m hungry – like “shaky” hungry after a workout – I just want to eat whatever’s super-watery. I guess that’s why fruits, and shakes are so appealing in those cases.

    I’m lucky, I usually crave the same foods so whether I’m hungry or waiting it out until dinner I know what I’ll make. To snack I’ve been loving yogurt and puffed kamut with tons of cinnamon, yeah I can’t live without that stuff either πŸ™‚

    I have a snack after I finish a meal and am not satisfied :). And I definitely had a hard time deciding what to eat when I’m too hungry, and therefore I sometimes end up snacking mindlessly. Oh well…Glad to hear your reading some great books!!

    I’ve never had the grape kombucha flavor. I like the pink one the best (I don’t remember what it’s called…) and I like the orange one (is that ginger?) but I don’t like the green one. Blehh.

    Amanda, it’s time for a heart-to-heart. I know you don’t like people telling you what to eat, or telling you that you need to eat more than one kind of almond butter with your oats, I know you’ve admitted that you don’t like to mess with a good thing, but I just have to.

I made some the other day and I mean, it’s just… it’s good. It’s really good. It’s sweet, it’s savoury, it’s almond butter designed for savoury oats. It needs to be in your life.

    mmm I love cinnamon. all of your food looks SO good. I’m currently eating dinner (and a quite delicious dinner, I might add), yet somehow the pictures of your food are making me hungry(or hungrier?). how is that even possible?

    when I finish and am not satisfied I….EAT MORE!

    and yes, it’s like the hungrier I get, the more indecisive I become…of course, that’s not always the case, and sometimes I’ll just eat whatever I can get my hands on, but usually I stand there confused and irritated for a good long while.

    I am JUST about to finish the Kite Runner and I can tell you that it only gets BETTER!! It’s such an amazing book. I have no idea why I didn’t read it sooner.

    Yep, I have a crazy hard time deciding what to eat when I’m uber hungry. It usually ends up with me in tears and buying a takeaway because I can’t think straight. Thank goodness it doesn’t happen too often these days!

    I’m completely obsessed with cinnamon and I’m pretty picky too. I love Saigon Cinnamon, it’s the best and so flavorful πŸ™‚

    i love the WIAW! yummm! your dinner looks SO good!!! I tend to eat something protein-y if i am still hungry, like cottage cheese or greek yogurt! OR peanut butter! But ill always eat something else if i dont feel satisfied! I cant BELIEVE i used to never ever feel satisfied and didnt eat when i was hungry, now i look at hunger as a blessing!

    All of that food just looks amazing! I’m going to start a modified version of the New Rules plan tomorrow (modified to take into account my body pump and running training) and I can’t wait! When I’m still hungry after a meal I tend to fancy either something sweet and hydrating like fruit, or dense and full of flavour like chocolate, luckily I always have both on hand πŸ™‚

    Thank you for the comment on my latest post, Yes I have read The Pact it was actually the first book of hers I read, gosh it was absolutely amazing, i think i read it in two days I literally couldn’t put it down.
    Oh my gosh i share my love of cinnamon with you, my mum is like Jess what are there cinnamon pots everywhere, i tell her you have to be prepared for all situations mum. πŸ˜‰ Thank god you had spare. πŸ˜€

    Oh gosh a bowl of blueberries… I love blueberries too they are little sweets of amazingness. I’m not sure if its the same in Canada but over here in the Uk the little buggers cost me an arm and a leg. ahah

    I sometimes have a hard time dealing with the fact I have just eaten a meal yet im still hungry, but I recognize that my body is trying to tell me something, so I will make myself a fruit salad with fage or a pudding of some sort. its so good to treat your body.

    I just googled The Kite Runner it sounds really good, I may have to put it on my reading list, I literally cannot get enough of reading.

    Haha looks like I’m joining the ‘we love cinnamon on everything’ party too with everyone else!! I’m sure there must be something addictive about it…I still need to try it on cottage cheese though!
    Whenever I finish a meal and I’m still hungry I normally have a couple of pieces of fruit and greek yogurt…and then maybe a few munchies of cereal if that’s not enough πŸ™‚ I cannot go hungry, that is a big no no!
    And aarghh I’m SO bad at deciding what to have for meals. Sometimes the date that things need to be eaten by help me decide but a lot of the time I’ll repeat what I had the day before or the day before that!

    I really find it difficult to eat something after I have had a meal and get quite embarrased by it I try and tell myself that my body needs more I usually have a yogurt. Hoping one day it will get easier. Xxx

      It will. It was the same way for me. At first, you really have to push yourself to do it a few times, and then you’ll start seeing how good it makes you feel and it’ll get easier.

    I am obsessed with putting cinnamon on most of my foods, it is simply not complete without that oh so amazing spice πŸ™‚
    Right after I finish a meal is the time I struggle the most with. Even if I am not hungry, I ALWAYS want something else… just a taste more, to finish off the meal. But that one taste just turns into more eating. I am trying to listen to my hunger cues better, but obviously this is easier said than done

    Haha I do the exact same thing with my Enjoy Life trail mixes. I have a bag in my pantry and all that’s left in it are sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds.:P

    If I finish a meal and I’m still hungry I usually nosh on some dried fruit. I actually do that even if I’m NOT hungry just because I love ending meals on a sweet note.

    I’m bookmarking that pumpkin scramble to make – I’ve been wanting to try it ever since you posted it on your OLD blog!

    Usually I go with my cravings, no matter what time of day it is. Last night I had a big mess of a yogurt bowl for dessert, since I was still hungry and was craving all of the goodies I put into it.

    When I’m not fully satisfied from a meal? I eat more, and try to satisfy my cravings.

    Only cottage cheeses and cinnamon? Am I missing something? Or maybe on your side of the world cottage cheese is different? Like when I went to Italy and realized that their so called plain yogurt was sweetened.

    I usually know what I want much before mealtime but I often leave the table not quite satisfied because I still tend to plan smaller meals than the appropriate for my activity level. I’m trying to eat the way I used to eat before I started cycling every single day but it just doesn’t work. I say no to my cravings and then I get really cranky and end up eating much more than I feel comfortable with. I must find balance somewhere in the middle. Because milk with caramelized biscuits followed by grapes followed by yogurt with cereal is by no means a normal snack. End of rant, off to bed πŸ™‚ .

    I always try to drink some water and let my food digest if I’m not feeling satisfied! If I’m still hungry thirty minutes later I’ll usually snack on fruit or haveva dessert!

    When I’m hungry and trying to decide over a meal, I have the hardest time choosing what to eat. I will usually snack on some carrot sticks while trying to decide to calm the hungry beast and then decide. πŸ™‚

    A sweet beginning is definitely the way to go in the mornings πŸ™‚
    I lovee cinnamon, but for some reason I always manage to forget about it until I’m done eating than I think..”Why didn’t I add cinnamon?” Maybe I need to keep some extra shakers around the house… πŸ™‚

    Usually when I finish a meal and I’m not fully satisfied, I move on to dessert πŸ˜› I know that if I don’t eat something when I’m hungry I’ll end up eating everything in site later on, so it’s better to tackle it early on.

    When I’m too hungry I usually feel like eating EVERYTHING. So I try and make something that somewhat satisfies most of my cravings. I try not to get to that point though because then it takes longer for me to tame my hunger and I end up eating more than I need to.

    Love your eats! When I’m still hungry after I ate, I just eat some more! Or I’ll wait a few minutes to see if I still don’t feel satisfied. When starvation sets in, I have a real hard time deciding what to eat and I’ll usually throw some stuff together. The funny things is that the most beautiful creations come from that!

    And I have a cinnamon stash like yours – the other week, my sister finished my stash and I was so mad, I went crazy restocking :p
    I just resort to old favourites when I’m really hungry, which is dull, but at least I know I’ll like them!

    I really want to comment on your lovely meals but I saw “The Kite Runner!” One of my favorite books. What do you think about it? I hope you love it as much as I did. But I have to say that Hosseini’s second book, “A Thousand Splendid Suns” was even better. If you can imagine that!

    Love cinnamon. I always buy it in bulk. It’s just that good.

    I have a feeling you’ll like the Kite Runner. It’s tied with The Shadow of The Wind as one of my favorite books.

    What do you do when you finish your meal and you’re still not fully satisfied?
    I eat an extra big dessert πŸ˜‰ Usually soy hot chocolate, paired with some kind of cookie(s)/chocolate will satisfy me. But I’ll probably have an earlier snack afterward.

    YES. The former. My brain just does NOT work when I’m too hungry, and can’t make any decisions. It’s so hard to choose something because I want it to be really good and satisfying, but there seem to be too many choices. I can’t tune into my hunger cues or cravings properly when I’ve gone beyond my base-level of hunger.

    cinnamon will always be the number one spice in my book. I always load up on the jumbo containers at Sam’s. and even those don’t last too long.

    your dinner looks soooo good, as does everything in this post. Basically, I want to come live with you so i can eat everything you eat. Is that creepy? hahaha ohhhh well. πŸ˜›

    Haha I looove you and your cinnamon addiction!!! It’s ok, we all have sooomething!
    I read the Kite Runner in school. It was required but I got SO into it.. it’s such a good, moving book. Have you seen the book? I’m requiring you to watch it once you finish the book. It’s a requirement.

    When Im hungry after eating, I try to think if there was something I left out…(I find I am usually most satisfied when I have a serving of protein, 2 of grains, a fat added, veggies and sometimes a milk serving). If I am still hungry, I will pick up a fruit and some nuts..or an extra serving of something if there is any leftovers. I used to always just grab more veggies which doesnt really help so I am breaking out of that habit.

    I love that you keep cinnamon stashes in different places, just in case the urge for an extra dash strikes mid-meal. Because I do to. πŸ™‚ I live on the third floor of a row house (six flights of stairs up–it’s a workout!), so I keep salt and pepper shakers as well as an entire spice rack in my room. Sometimes I eat in the kitchen, sometimes I eat in my room. This way, no matter where I am, I know I’m prepared! :-p

    The Kite Runner is such a wonderful, heart-wrenching story. If you enjoy it, I also recomment A Thousand Splendid Suns, which is written by the same author.

    When I’m left feeling unsatisfied after a meal, I try to wait 20 minutes to see whether I’ll feel more satiated after the food begins to digest. If not, I’ll plate a small amount of food and try my best to enjoy it slowly. This works much better than grazing on odds n’ ends, which I know from experience can lead to an over-stuffed belly!

    As far as eating when I’m extremely hungry: I try not to get to that place, because when I’m ravenous, I’ll grab almost anything in sight!

    Breakfast for lunch is my favorite. And then breakfast for dinner is even better. Haha.

    If I’m not satisfied with a meal, I just keep eating more of other stuff. I did that the other night.

    If I’m not fully satisfied after I eat I’ll give it a few minutes and if I still feel hungry I’ll grab some fruit or almonds and raisins.

    I used to be the worst at deciding what to eat when I was hungry. Suddenly nothing would sound good. I’ve realized that waiting till I’m that hungry is NEVER a good idea!
