. WIAW… round… err… five? .

Hey, hey, hey! 😀

Hope everyone’s having a beautiful day! Everything’s just peachy in my neck of the woods, but I do have one tiny, little complaint… Now, I’m not usually one to gripe about the weather, but I just have to get it out of my system before I can go on. June… you’re sucking big time. More sun. Less cloud. Kay? Thanks.

Much better.

Now we can get the party started. It is, after all, everybody’s favorite day of the week!

Wednesdays start out the same as any other day, with tea, coffee…

 

… and breakfast…

Just kidding.

Breakfast wasn’t a lonesome banana; if it were, you can bet that I’d be a Starvin’ Marvin after about half an hour. But can we just talk about the size of that sucker for a sec? I don’t know what they’re feeding these buggers, but this thing was huge – two bananas worth at least.

That being the case, only half of the monster banana went into this morning’s actual breakfast…

Eggy, banana-fied steel cut oats with fresh strawberries and Cacao Bliss.

… while the other half went into today’s lunch. But we’ll get to that in a sec, because before lunch came some deee-licious mid-morning snacking.

Can someone please tell me how people make it from meal to meal without snacking in between? It seems like no matter how much or what I eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I’m always hungry a couple of hours later. Like clockwork. This constant hunger used to make me really uncomfortable, but now? Now I actually love it, to the point where I start getting worried if my hunger doesn’t kick in on time. Not only does it mean that I have the metabolism of a cheetah, but I get to enjoy more good food. Win, win 😀

But where was I? Ahh, yes. Second breakfast Lunch time…

… where the other half of this morning’s monster banana made an appearance as part of a vanilla tofu protein pudding. Alongside that gem we have a lovely bowl of Greek yogurt with trail mix, Kashi Honey Sunshine, and puffed wheat. Yes, I’m still doing the whole breakfast for lunch deal pretty much every day. I love it. At this point, I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to go back to lunch-like lunches…

BUT, let’s go back to the topic of monsters for a sec. In addition to enjoying breakfast [at least] twice a day, I also enjoy a salad beast [at least] once a day. You know… to get some veggies in. And because I honestly do love them. But you have to realize that when I say salad beast, I mean salad beast

I put my salad bowl next to my iPhone so you can get a better idea of where I’m coming from. But yeah… crazy how I can pack away all that veggie goodness without so much as blinking an eye. What can I say? I’m a lean, mean, veggie eating machine. But there are only so many veggies you can eat in a day, right? I mean, you gotta leave room for dessert…

I am indeed a plate licker. No shame. What would be a shame would be leaving any bit of that delicious goodness uneaten. So, I grab that plate with both hands and lick to my heart’s content. Not only does it make me feel like I’m 10 years old again, but it saves me the trouble of washing the dishes…

Kidding.

The plates do get washed properly around here, so don’t be afraid to come over to my place for dinner. And speaking of dinner, tonight’s was definitely a good one…

Pumpkin Hummus Tortilla Pizza

It was also a whole one. But I was hungry, got a little over-excited, and dug in before taking a proper picture. Don’t worry, I learned my lesson – my burnt tongue is not too happy with me right now. But I have a feeling it’ll forgive me when snack time rolls around…

I don’t usually include my nightly noshings in these WIAW posts because I publish them just after dinner, which means that I haven’t yet eaten my nightly snack… but here’s one from last night, just to end things on a sweet note. Enjoy your night, loves!

 

Banana smoothie made from 1 frozen banana, 1 Tbsp. almond butter, and ~¼ cup of almond milk; topped with puffed wheat and trail mix.

    I usually don’t snack between meals unless I have dance practice later than usual – then I have to snack in order to have enough energy/fuel.

    Confession = OH yes, I lick the bowl/plate. But not when at a restaurant, haha.

    I actually can’t eat a lot of vegetables unless they’re steamed or sauteed, and very soft. They aggravate my Crohn’s. Besides – I think I ate enough vegetables while at my lowest weight that I ate enough to make up for these years 😉

    I most definitely am a bowl/plate/yogurt container-licker (when no one’s watching of course!) Gotta get all the goodness till it’s gone 😉
    I’m certainly a snacker as well, I honestly don’t know how people can go more than four hours without some sort of sustenance/snack-age!

    Thanks for the comment! I really will just miss Mike because I dont have him there to run around like a maniac with me and do a bunch of wedding stuff next week, Im sad I cant put him to work! lol! Actually no, I will miss him but you are right, it will be the best when I see him!

    I am a plate, bowl, mug, spoon, and finger licker! ha!

    I love snacks, I have a afternoon and night snack always! Sometimes more snacks too!

    Hah, when I have a salad beast, it’s a salad BEAST, too! All your meals look wonderful. When I’m home I am wayyyy more likely to have breakfast for lunch, too.
    Snacking? Uh, yes. Like you, no matter how big a meal I eat I swear I eat every 2-3 hours! And as for plate licking, I can’t say I do that very often. Mainly because I don’t have such delicious looking ice cream on a plate, though 😛

    I intentionally snack…I don’t want it ,but I’m doing it. I hope my hunger signals and metabolism come back. Im convinced it won’t because my condition has been prolonged now for a full 3 years, and its real low.
    This past week I have made big changes tho. So trying to have faith.
    I love all your eats. I have giant salad beasts also and top them with 1/2 avocado – a must.
    I really miss being normal u know? I really feel ashamed about never exercising.

    Again, love your eats and positivity.

    And lots of thunder and lightning happening for my parts as I type this!!

    yum yum yum! I love your foods! and I’m a plate licker as well 🙂 it’s the only way to go.
    your photography is amazing. I usually end up not taking good pictures because I’m too excited to eat haha! Do you edit your pictures in anything or is that just raw? Whenever I upload my pictures it takes up so much space on my media in wordpress 😦

      Lol oh I definitely can’t take pictures of all my eats every day… usually I’m either too hungry or too lazy. But I try on Wednesday’s, just for WIAW. And I don’t usually edit any pictures. If you run out of room on WordPress, you can always open an account with Flickr and upload your pics there.

    haha ‘lunch-like-lunches’ are waayyy overrated 😉 I’ve been on a non-lunchy kick too, especially involving greek yogurt 🙂 By the way, I love ALL of your eats mmmm!

    I don’t know how people DON’T snack between meals! If I didn’t I would be seriously starving. If I’m not working out for a few days I tend to not need as many snacks, but usually I need them or else I bite my arm off 😉

    I’m definitely a snacker but my snacks tend to get a little on the high calorie side lol I am guilty of being a bowl licker…I’m kind of ashamed to admit it but I am. Love the banana chocolate chip cookies, they look so yummy 😀 Mmm pizza is always a win in my book

    I never have problems getting enough veggies in, thanks so salad beasts that look much like yours. My dinner pretty much always has a boat load of steamed veggies, but thankfully I still having room for snacking in between meals 🙂

    Amanda you are truly inspiring! you help me to realize that it is okay to snack, it is okay to indulge and it is okay to eat what we actually want. Since the discovery of your blog, I have become so much more comfortable with eating and have been able to manage my meals in a way that truly satisfies me and makes me happy. All I can say is thank you!

    I usually don’t snack between breakfast and lunch but there’s NO way I’m make it from lunch to dinner without one! I’m totally a plate/bowl licker, which I usually only do in private, unless your my boyfriend, then you’re lucky enough to see me do it. I’ve been waiting weeks to see that “salad beast” and here it is! I usually have no problem getting my veggies in because I LOVE veggies. I think I need a hummus, pumpkin, tortilla pizza.

    Those are some good eats ya got going on over here!
    I’m a total snacker. I rarely EVER have that ‘keeps me full for over 5-6 hrs’ business going on. Sometimes I start snacking 30mins after a meal. I think its just a habit I have, but I can’t help it. Plus snacks are just so fun and delicious 🙂
    I think my body is pretty good at telling me when I need greens. Sometimes I don’t eat as much as I should, but I’ll end up craving it the next day.
    Gosh, I think I’d lick my plate too if I had a Coconut Bliss Dark Chocolate Bar sitting on it. I haven’t tried those bars yet, but they look lip smackin goooood!

    I’ll trade weather with you! Today we broke a record–99 degrees! And tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter 😛

    I feel really guilty when I don’t eat my veggies, which is what keeps me from eating breakfast more than once a day (even though I’d love to eat breakfast at every meal!). And I’m definitely a plate licker, though I try to be discreet 😉

    Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!! (I say that in every comment i post on your blog, don’t I?)

    I DO snack between meals. I tend not to snack between breakfast and lunch because lately I’ve been finishing breakfast around 10 pm sooooo a snack really isn’t necessary between then and lunch. But I do end up having a bigger snack after dinner in order to keep me going until the morning when I wake up.

    I’ve never had a hard time getting my veggies in. I LOVE veggies because they always make me feel so good. I can notice when I haven’t had enough veggies because I start feeling really rough and lethargic – not cool. YUM VEGGIES!

    I’m definitley a plate licker. Except when I’m in resteraunts or with company- I’m MUCH more dignified & just use my finger to ensure NO food is left behind!
    As always all your food and pictures are spectacularly beautiful!!

    I so snack between every meal. Sometimes more then once. I am a grazer for msot of the day.. but still eat my meals as well! 🙂

    I am a total plate and bow licker. Got to get ALL the goods!

    I always always snack in between meals. I swear I’m hungry every 2 hours on the dot!
    I’m also Defiantly a bowl/plate licker! LIke you said it’s less dish work and I don’t want to waste any of it 😉

    can’t say I have a hard time getting my veggies in, because I love them so 🙂

    Your food looks so. Good. Gahhh. If it is delicious, then yes the bowl gets licked!! Annnd veggies are never hard for me to get in! Theyre just so tasty!

    Oh yes, I really do SNACK! I love snacks and I always enjoy them. I think there is no main meal that can keep me full long enough 🙂
    Well, if the meal tastes good, let´s lick the plates!:)
    I eat at least one huge salad daily, so I hope I get a lot of veggies, but it´s always been much easier for me tog et my daily fruits:)

    i spy harney & sons hot cinnamon tea… SO YUMMY!!!! we have similar tea tastes. in that case you might also wanna try their PARIS tea if you havent already – that one is my favorite!

    i also get worried if my hunger doesnt kick in. honestly, hunger is a sign that you are healthy and energetic and that your metabolism and body are working correctly!! and it means that food tastes even BETTER!!!

    Love your eats, and your photos are to die for! I am a total snacker, I cannot go more then 2 hours without replenishing mah belly. Next time someone asks how I can manage to eat as much as I do I’ll be sure to use your “metabolism like a cheetah”, that is too perfect! Can I come over for dinner and enjoy a pizza or two, it looks too delsih for words!

    Thank you for being a girly girl and still eat REAL meals 😀 I think so much about that- Im so afraid to not be a girl if I eat more that tiny meals.. when I write it down I see how crazy it sounds 😛
    Your meals looks so good!! And I wish I could taste the coconut bliss bar! We dont have them in Norway.
    I actually have a hard time getting all my veggies in. Not because I dont like them (I love veggies!!), but because my thoughts that I have to eat little even stops me from eating healthy food! Working on it, and Im getting closer 🙂

    I am ALWAYS snacking! I snack less breakfast to lunch, but waiting for dinner I almost always have an apple and almond butter or bagel thin and a banana.
    Vegetables are not a problem either. Popeye would be proud of the amount of spinach I consume.

    The tortilla pizza looks great! I am trying that when I get back from camping next week!

    YES plate lickers UNITE!! Mainly cos most of my meals involve nur butter and/or chocolate chips which always melt, and I don’t believe in wasting food hehe 😉

    And I am SO with you!! I have never understood how people can go from one meal to the next without snacking!! MADNESS I tell you!! Food is too good to go for hours on end without it 🙂

    Salad beasts=love. And I’m addicted to broccoli so I definitely get in ma veggies!

    P.S. That pumpkin-hummus tortilla pizza BLOWS MY MIND!! Looks soooo good!! Haha I’m actually eating breakfast as I type but all your yummy food is still managing to make me hungry! 😛

    Oh I am glad you wash your plates because I am SO coming over to eat all of your seriously amazing food. And you think I’m kidding 🙂 I melt with jealousy everytime I see everything you eat, honestly. And I NEED to have your pumpkin hummus tortilla pizza when I come okay?
    As for me, I lick my plates clean because I know this sounds weird, but when I do the washing up..I don’t like the washing up bowl to be full of crumbs, sauce etc..I like it to be as clean as possible for as long as possible whilst I’m doing all the dishes..hehe I’m strange.
    And um you know I LIVE for snacks. They are my favorite parts of the day. Muffins, cookies, greek yogurt, bars…I LOVE SWEET STUFF and I NEED them 🙂 I prefer them to my meals 😛

    I’m a repeat bowl-licker, gotta get every drop of food in my mouth! Sometimes I can’t get in my veggies and all I’m craving is sweet- but I usually eat a salad or something to make up for it.

    I don’t snack in the morning because I eat breakfast and lunch only 3 hours apart usually. But I definitely have an afternoon and an evening snack every day. I can’t imagine going more than 3 hours without eating!!

    Oh! Do you want to adopt me? I want someone to make healthy and delicious meals for me that look exactly as tempting as yours 🙂 .

    I want to eat 3 big meals a day and skip the snacks but I just can’t. I also crave something every 3 hours or so.

    Yes, I “clean” my plates and bowls. But I usually use a finger 😛 .

    Veggies… probably not always enough but sometimes more than everything else. I just eat them if I crave them.

    I wish I could tell you how people make it from meal to meal without snacking in between, but I can’t understand it myself. I just love food! It looks like you had some good eats.

    Oh, and to answer the question – I do have trouble fitting in veg. I’m trying to get more veg tips though from other bloggies, so hopefully that will change!

    I think my blog name says it all, regarding snacking. I couldn’t live without it!

    I am a fair weather plate-licker. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t.

    There are days when I don’t want vegetables at all, and then there are days where I have two huge salads, one for lunch, one for dinner. It’s completely unpredictable, and I don’t worry about the days I’m not feeling greenery.

    I used to be totally uncomfortable snacking and always feel like I was eating too much. I’ve gotten a lot better about this and I love your blog cause it makes me realize that it’s okay to snack and have what your body wants when it is asking for it! Like you said, being hungry between meals is just a sign that your metabolism is working fast.
    I’m a shameless bowl/plate/spoon licker too! Especailly when I bake 🙂

    I need to learn to snack more! The only time I really snack is at night after dinner… but I need to start squeezing in an afternoon snack, too. A morning snack is all but impossible though, considering I usually eat breakfast around 9 AM and take a couple hours to digest before my workout, and then I have lunch right after… I’m actively trying to figure out how to squeeze all I want/need to eat into my day!

    I always snack between meals and I always have a snack or two before bed at night.

    I usually don’t have any problems getting my veggies in – one huge veggie bowl and I’m set for the day! 🙂

    I love Hot Cinnamon Spice tea – I think I used to drink more than three cups daily, until I realized how expensive my habit was!

    There is no way I could make it from meal to meal without a snack (or snackS) – I am pretty much constantly eating! If I didn’t snack, then I’d probably just eat 6 meals – I’m always hungry!

      Haha it definitely IS an expensive habit, but I can’t help myself. I try to limit myself to two cups a day, though. One in the morning, and one to get me through the afternoon when the slump hits.

    Yes of course I snack – 3 + times daily.
    i normally only have veggies at dinner, cause lunch i tend to stick to sweet breakfasty things.
    But i’m sure I get my fair share. 🙂

    I usually have an afternoon snack but not a morning snack. I can easily roll from breakfast to lunch without anything in between but not lunch and dinner. I always have the muchines around 3:00 in the afternoon. That pumpkin hummus tortilla pizza looks incredible!

    Hey Amanda!

    I’ve been reading your blog for a while now and really enjoy it! Thank you for sharing everything you’ve been going through, I’m kind of going through some re-feeding with a nutritionist and appreciate knowing there are other bloggies out there who are/have gone through the same thing!

    I’m working on getting my blog up and running, I’ve got to find time to devote to it but you can check out what I’ve got so far if you’re interested 🙂

    I wanted to comment on something you said in your post–I’m someone who likes to snack between meals. Unfortunately, with my new job for the summer, I have to go from 6:00 am-11:30am without a snack! I have a good full breakfast but wish I could have that snack in between! LOVE snacks!
